Galerie de la Ville is located on the lower level of the Dollard Cultural Centre and presents art exhibitions featuring a large variety of styles and media by professional artists. You are invited to attend the opening receptions.

Opening Hours:

Tuesdays and Wednesday 12 - 4 p.m,
Thursday and Friday 2 to 5 p.m.
Saturdays and Sundays 1 - 4 p.m.

Guided Tours:

Galerie de la Ville offers free guided tours of its exhibitions . If you are interested in organizing a tour for your group please call 684-1012 ex. 298.

GALLERY SPECIAL EVENTS: 

 

Professional artists are invited to sign up to participate in the next conference: 

ARTIST AT WORK WORKSHOPS AND CONFERENCE

Open to all aspiring and practicing artists.
Workshops and conference are bilingual.
Pre-registration is required two weeks prior to each event. Registration is limited.
All Workshops managed or conducted by Claudine Ascher, Director/Curator of Galerie de la VIlle


WORKSHOP 1: January 17, 2010, 9 a.m. – 12, 1 to 4 p.m.
Documenting Your Work Cost: $150.00
We will begin with a discussion about the type of visual documentation required in a professional dossier.
A photographer will be available on-site to shoot digital images of one to three of each participant’s most recent works.

WORKSHOP 2: January 24, 2010, 9 a.m. – 12, 1 to 4 p.m.
Preparing a Professional Dossier Cost: $75.00
Morning: We will begin with a presentation and discussion about what represents an Artist’s CV, how to structure an artist’s statement, and how to relate the statement to the images to be included in the dossier.
Afternoon: Under supervision, create an Artist’s Statement based on your images and/or bring yours for review, editing or re-writing.

WORKSHOP 3: January 31, 2010, 9 a.m. – 12, 1 to 4 p.m
Preparing a Proposal: Venues, Mandates and the Role of Curators Cost: $75.00
Morning: We will begin with a discussion about making exhibition or project proposals or grant applications to various venues.
Afternoon: Under supervision, create a proposal for review, editing or re-writing.

WORKSHOP 4: February 7, 2010, 9 a.m. – 12, 1 to 4 p.m.
Going Public and the Role of Dealers and Artists’ Associations Cost: $75.00
Morning: We will discuss making the transition to professional practice and the role participating in artist associations should play in this process.
Afternoon: Participants will prepare a. ten-minute talk about their work to be accompanied by visuals.
Afternoon: In groups, each participant will present her / his work.

WORKSHOP 5: February 14, 2010, 9 a.m. – 12, 1 to 4 p.m.
Framing your Work and Preparing for Exhibition Cost: $75.00
We will discuss the proper framing or mounting of works, as well as their presentation for exhibition.

WORKSHOP 6: February 21, 2010, 9 a.m. – 12, 1 to 4 p.m.
Judgement versus Critique in Art Cost: $75.00
Morning: We will examine and discuss various viewer responses to art. Afternoon: bring up to six of your works to be critiqued and discussed.
